Merger between two law firms in the northern Netherlands: ‘A logical step in a rapidly changing market’
The Northern law firms PlasBossinade Advocaten en Notarissen (Groningen) and Rotshuizen Geense Advocaten (Leeuwarden) will merge as from 1 January 2026 and continue under one name: PlasBossinade Advocaten en Notarissen. By joining forces, the firms aim to better respond to the increasing complexity of the legal market and the growing demand for specialist expertise.
The merger unites more than 100 professionals, including lawyers, civil-law notaries, and support staff. Both offices will remain active at their current locations.
“By combining our strengths, we remain at the forefront of a market that is changing rapidly,” says Jan Leo de Hoop, managing partner of PlasBossinade. “We are investing in specialist knowledge and digital innovation, while remaining accessible and personal, and maintaining our existing relationships.”
Strengthening practice groups and increasing capacity
According to both firms, the merger is a logical next step in a careful process. The firms know each other well, share a similar culture, and complement each other in terms of expertise. Clients will keep their existing contacts.
“We notice that clients increasingly seek highly specialized legal support,” says Cynthia Grondsma, managing partner of Rotshuizen Geense. “By moving forward together, we increase our capacity and are able to respond more quickly.”
Future-proof with personal approach
The legal sector is evolving: legislation and regulations are becoming more complex, technology plays a growing role, and clients expect tailored solutions. In that landscape, the firms aim to remain agile without losing their personal approach.
As from 1 January 2026, the name PlasBossinade Advocaten en Notarissen will actively be used. Additional communication about further branding and integration will follow in the course of the year.
